Al Hamra

Description

The site of Kuwait’s first cinema, a well-known landmark attracting citizens and visitors for decades, Al Hamra builds on its legacy and became the nation’s tallest skyscraper.

At a height of 414m in the heart of Kuwait City, Al Hamra Tower breaks all records. At this height, Al Hamra enjoys the recognition of being amongst the 15 highest skyscrapers in the world and its innovative design places Kuwait on the map as a center for business and creativity.

The vision was to create a center of excellence, integrating every available resource with state-of-the-art technology, creativity and originality! No effort was spared to turn the vision into reality.

Al Hamra is a landmark with its iconic tower heralding a new era of development and prosperity in Kuwait.

Like an enshrouded figure with its delicate glass veil, the apex of the Tower with carved flared walls depicts continuation of the sculptural form infinitely upwards. The results reveal a rich, monolithic stone at the south wall framed by the graceful, twisting ribbons of torque walls, which define the iconic form of the Tower.

One of the tallest towers in the world, and by far the tallest sculptured tower, Al Hamra is in a class of its own, visible from miles away, and for those in the tower itself, providing spectacular views over much of Kuwait and across the Arabian Gulf.

The solid south wall is designed in a way to decrease the solar radiation. Openings are based on the relationship of the envelope and its position in relation to the sun. The geometry of the interior wall is generated and responds to the need to minimize solar heat gain. This wall not only protects the building from critical environmental conditions, but also takes on the role of the structural spine of the building.

Rising over 400m with its curious cloak-like façade trying to unfold as it climbs, the tower is a paragon of design excellence and a fitting symbol of Kuwait’s aspiring leadership in the region, providing office space for a wide range of business activities.

The purity of its form is a timeless, elegant marker in the heart of Kuwait.

Facilities

The Al Hamra Luxury Center houses the world’s leading extravagant fashion brands in order to satisfy the needs of the elite and eminent population of Kuwait. The Luxury Center is the first of its kind in the Kuwait market, making it the ultimate destination for luxury shopping.

Providing space for over 2000 cars, a multi-storey car park offers secure shaded parking for those working in, or visiting, both the tower or the mall, with direct pedestrian access to both.

Location

Al Hamra Tower is located in one of the most significant neighborhoods of the Kuwaiti capital. The neighborhood, Sharq, is the home of many of Kuwait’s economic leaders over the past several decades. In the past, Sharq was one of the three neighborhoods within the walls of Kuwait and was a central location for trade, fishing and education.

Located strategically at the main entrance of Kuwait City and its new developing business hub, at the crossroads of Jaber Al-Mubarak Street and Abdulaziz Al-Sager Street (formerly Al Shuhada’a), Al Hamra enjoys excellent accessibility and great visibility. This project fulfills Kuwait’s long cherished dream as an everlasting icon for vision of a new commercial business district.
